Sono Professore ordinario presso il Dipartimento di Psicologia dell’Università di Bologna e direttore del gruppo di ricerca Non-invasive Brain Stimulation (NIBS). Svolgo attività di ricerca presso il Centro studi e ricerche in Neuroscienze Cognitive (CsrNC) e altri istituti nazionali e internazionali. I miei interessi di ricerca riguardano le neuroscienze affettive, cognitive e sociali e lo studio della neuroplasticità. In particolare, studio le basi cerebrali della percezione e dell'azione, dell'empatia, della percezione sociale ed emozionale, e i legami tra neuroplasticità e comportamento. Questi temi sono studiati mediante metodi comportamentali e neurofisiologici (stimolazione magnetica transcranica, TMS; stimolazione elettrica trascranica, tES; elettroencefalografia, EEG) e di imaging (risonanza magnetica funzionale, fMRI) in soggetti sani e pazienti con disturbi neurologici e psichiatrici.
